About NotaryOT

NotaryOT is a public directory of commissioned notaries, built from the rosters states publish themselves, with booking and training built around it. This page says who operates it and what it does — and, just as usefully, what it does not.

Who operates this site

NotaryOT is a trade name of Atanium Corporation, a Wyoming corporation. The same entity is the counterparty on every agreement published here, so the name in the Terms is the name behind the site.

The full agreements are published in whole: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and the Notary Provider Agreement for notaries taking work through the platform.

We coordinate. Notaries notarize.

This is the distinction that matters most, and it is the first section of our Terms for that reason. NotaryOT is not a notary public and does not perform notarial acts. Every notarization arranged here is performed by a separate, state-commissioned notary, and that notary — not this platform — decides whether the act may lawfully be performed, whether the identification presented is satisfactory, and how the act is recorded in their journal.

What we do is the surrounding work: the directory and its search, the profile pages, scheduling, communication between a signer and a notary, payment, and support when something goes wrong.

Where the listings come from

Every listing is a row from a state's own notary roster. We do not collect notary details, buy them, or accept submissions into the directory — if a commission appears here, a state published it. We currently ingest 6 states: California, Colorado, Delaware, New York, Oregon, Texas.

California is where the directory goes deepest, because California is where the gap is widest: the state publishes no per-notary lookup at all, only a single compressed file of every active commission, refreshed each business day. Checking one notary means downloading that file and searching it yourself. We do that once and give each commission an address.

What is free, and what is not

Being listed is free, and it is not optional in the way a paid listing would be — a commission is on the state's public roster whether or not anyone here is paying. Claiming that listing is also free: a notary proves the commission is theirs, and from then on they control what the page says and can receive booking requests at no charge.

We charge for coordinated bookings, for memberships, and for Academy tracks above the free tier. Paid placement does not exist today; if it ever does, it will be labelled as advertising on the page it appears on, because a directory whose ordering is quietly for sale is not a directory.

The Academy, stated plainly

NotaryOT Academy is training for people becoming notaries and notaries building a practice — exam preparation, fieldwork, and business material, starting at no cost. There is one thing it is not, and we would rather you read it here than find out later:

Any school that is vague on that point is telling you something about itself.

What we do not do

We do not publish reviews, ratings, star scores or testimonials for notaries. We do not publish street addresses — a great many notaries on a state roster have listed their home. We do not write descriptions of a notary's practice on their behalf; an unclaimed page shows the state's record and nothing else. And we do not give legal advice — the notice at the foot of every page on this site says exactly where that line falls.

Getting something changed

If a listing is wrong, the state's record is the thing to correct first — we republish what the state publishes, so a correction there reaches us on the next sync. If you are the notary and you would rather not be listed at all, ask, and we will remove it. We do not require a reason.
